Was it really a Top Design?

Channel Nine's new Jamie Durie vehicle Top Design debuted last night and the first show saw the contestants customising 6.1m shipping containers, something very dear to our heart. The real question is - did Jamie send home the right person? Or the wrong person? Have a look for yourself here: http://channelnine.ninemsn.com.au/slideshow_ajax.aspx?sectionid=6678543&sectionname=showtopdesign&subsectionid=7802306&subsectionname=Ep1RRSS

Do you think you can do better? Do you need some help. You know who to call......

Top Design - Why Didn't Jamie Call Us?

Rumour has it (http://www.smh.com.au/entertainment/tv-and-radio/back-home-and-on-cloud-nine-20110706-1h12u.html) that Top Design, Channel 9's brand new vehicle for the returning Jamie Durie (http://channelnine.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=8195173), will be using shipping containers as the basis for one (or more?) of their challenges.

We could have saved them all a lot of stress if they had simply called us! We've been modifying shipping containers for ten years, and have done many different campaigns using both 20'/6.1m and 40'/12.2m container platforms. For example - LG's wonderful Brand Studio (http://www.truckmania.com.au/gallery/33476-lg-brand-studio), or the infamous Lynxjet "Mile High Club" (http://www.truckmania.com.au/case-studies), part of a campaign which won NINE awards at Cannes. We've used them together for McDonalds, or separately fo HP (http://www.truckmania.com.au/gallery/32846-hire-fleet) and in every case they have been functional, unique, cost effective and quick. With all the advantages of flexibility, utility and standardisation, shipping containers can provide a quick, cost effective basis for developing a customised solution for you and your client.

Jamie - why didn't you call?

The Power of Moving Media!

"Moving bus ads are more engaging and memorable than stationary ads..." For more information go to this Ad News article.

We certainly believe in it - it's why we started the business! Our vehicle based media has been on the move for over ten years, with out truck based advertising providing impact and engagement across a variety of out of home campaigns. We have since extended this, utilising ads on courier vans to target pedestrians and high density population areas. Being constantly on the move, it is little wonder that vehicle based media is more engaging and memorable.

'Funbulance' Fun for CBA!

BMF have commisioned the Mania Group to produce the CBA 'Funbulance'. A Mini Countryman wagon has been transformed into a 'Funbulance' by the Truckmania team by adding a full self adhesive vinyl wrap, a comedy super sized emergency beacon and an array of crazy car horns, as well as seat covers and accessories in fun colours. Streetseen provided the 'Funraisers' team who emulate the Clown Doctors and produced their custom made costumes and accessories. Look out for the 'Funbulance' and the 'Funraisers' as they visit 27 CBA Bank locations across NSW during April.

Truckmania supported the AFL Season opening by activating a precinct promotion on behalf of subnine and Hyundai at the MCG last week. A gleaming new Hyundai Santa Fe was featured on our custom built Hyundai display trailer, whilst a DJ pumped music to create a fantastic vibe as the crowd entered the ‘G'. The Hyundai sponsored mighty Carlton Blues had a superb first round win and we wish them all the best for the rest of the season.

The Old Firm Wins Bathurst

Craig Lowndes and Mark Skaife, driving for Team Vodafone, combined to win V8 Supercar’s premier event, the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000. Lowndes, now a five time winner of the race, drove the last 79 laps in a mighty effort of endurance. For his now part-time teammate Skaife, this was a sixth victory in the event, elevating him even closer to the late, great, Peter Brock’s record of nine victories at the mountain. Adding to Team Vodafone’s joy, XXXX Ambassador Jamie Whincup, with co-driver Steve Owen, brought the other Team Vodafone Commodore home in second place in a form finish one-two for the team, a feat not achieved since the “Last of the Big Bangers” victory by Peter Brock in 1984. Now, as then, day-glo red Commodores. Furthering the joy, but this time for XXXX, Garth Tander (another XXXX Ambassador) teamed with Cameron McConville to complete a Holden clean sweep of the podium, taking third for HRT. Disappointing given last year’s result for the pair (Tander won, McConville was second), but both drivers were pleased with the result, especially given the trials of the day, including the door falling off the car during a pitstop! The race was won in record time, despite several safety cars. The biggest moment of the day was Fabian Coulthard’s, with a deflating left rear tyre letting go on lap one as he turned into the Chase at just under 300km/h, resulting in one of the biggest shunts at Bathurst in years. With many focused on the leaders, most punters missed the initial accident, but were awestruck when replays showed Fabian walk away. However, those watching from the top deck of the XXXX Gold Retreat at Murray’s Corner, with views from the finish line all the way up to Forrest’s Elbow, were well placed to see the debris flying through the Chase. A lucky escape. Congratulations to the winners, and all involved. Another Great Race!

Sportingbet Mobile Betting Kiosk

Truckmania has designed and built a unique Mobile Betting Kiosk for Sportingbet, based on a LWB, High Roof, Mercedes Sprinter platform. The vehicle provides punters with instant ‘live’ access to the full range of Sportingbet services from Australia’s biggest bookmaker, enabling them to bet at the racetrack, ring side, stadium or arena – wherever a major sporting activity is taking place. The vehicle is double sided and features symmetrical gull-wing doors and roll-out awnings which open to reveal six pairs of screens, allowing up to six punters to use the van simultaneously. In addition, amongst many of the other systems, the vehicle has a Wi-Fi zone, so those with smartphones can bet within that perimeter, meaning the van can service potentially hundreds of punters all at once. Is there a better way to bet?
